Overview

2G Mode expands the backwards-compatibility available in the Just Add Power HDMI over IP system.

All devices in the 3G System - 2GΩ/3G and 3G - can be set into 2G Mode. When a device is in 2G Mode, it is compatible with 2G devices and has all of the capabilities of a 2G device. This also disables the extra features in the 3G System - 4K, video rotation, video scaler, expanded audio, etc.

Compatible Firmware

The following versions have compatibility between the 2G System and 3G System:

  • A6.4.12
  • A6.5.0
  • A6.5.5
  • A6.5.9-LTS

Set 2G Mode

To set a 2GΩ/3G or 3G device into 2G Mode, send this command through telnet or the web interface:

2gmode.sh

Set 3G Mode

(Default) To set a 2GΩ/3G or 3G device into 3G Mode, send this command through telnet or the web interface:

3gmode.sh

justOS

justOS firmware (Bx.x.x) removes 2G Mode. If a device was in 2G Mode when it was updated, the device will revert to 3G Mode. The setting is not removed, but the setting has no meaning in justOS; downgrading the firmware back to a compatible version will re-apply 2G Mode.
