Layer 3 Access: Set Default Gateway on Processor

Once JADConfig has been used to setup the switch and all Transmitters and Receivers, the control system and other network devices are able to communicate with the switch to control HDMI switching.
However, the control system and other network devices are not yet able to communicate with the J+P devices to use Layer 3 Features like Video Wall, RS232, IR, CEC control.

This method only gives the processor access to Layer 3 Features. If you would like to give all network devices access to Layer 3 Features, see the Set Static Route on the Router article.

We will use RTI as our example, but any processor that supports static IP assignment will allow similar methodology to be employed.

Set Default Gateway on Processor

  1. Locate the JADConfig Report file for the system. Near the top of the document is the information for the Static Route. The Gateway figure references the IP address of the switch housing Just Add Power gear.

  2. Open the section of the processor's interface that allows for Static IP Assignment.
  3. Statically assign an open static IP address to the processor. The best practice is to place this IP address outside of any DHCP range that may be in place. Double-check that the correct subnet mask is present.
  4. Change the default gateway of the processor to be equivalent to the switch's IP address. If unsure, this address can be found next to the Gateway figure in the Static Route Section of the JADConfig Report.
  5. Save any changes and push updates to the processor (if necessary).
