Overview
The Ultra Series Warp Engine Encoder rotates and scales video before distributing it to Decoders in a Just Add Power system. Video can be rotated from 0.0 to 359.9 degrees in 0.1-degree increments.
Use the Warp Engine Encoder to:
- Correct video orientation for a rotated display
- Rotate video to a specific angle
- Scale video to fit or fill a display
- Create artistic video walls using displays mounted at different angles
How It Works

The Warp Engine Encoder combines one Decoder and one Encoder in a single unit. The internal Decoder receives video from another Encoder in the system. The Warp Engine rotates or scales the video, and the internal Encoder distributes the altered video to the destination Decoders.
Mount the Warp Engine Encoder in the main equipment rack and connect both network ports to the Just Add Power switch.
Signal flow: Source Encoder → Warp Engine Decoder → video rotation and scaling → Warp Engine Encoder → destination Decoder.
Send Commands
Open a Telnet session to the IP address of the Warp Engine Encoder. Enter a command and press Enter to execute it.
Command variables: Values beginning with a dollar sign, such as $angle, are variables. Replace the variable with the appropriate value before executing the command. Do not include the dollar sign in the executed command.
For example, replace $angle in warp rotate $angle with the required angle:
warp rotate 40.5
Important: Commands are case-sensitive.
Rotate Video
| Command | Value | Example | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
warp rotate $angle |
$angle = 0.0 to 359.9 |
warp rotate 40.5 |
Rotates the video 40.5 degrees counterclockwise. |
warp rotate clockwise |
clockwise |
warp rotate clockwise |
Rotates the video 1 degree clockwise. |
warp rotate counter-clockwise |
counter-clockwise |
warp rotate counter-clockwise |
Rotates the video 1 degree counterclockwise. |
Scale Video
| Command | Value | Example | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
warp scale $ratio |
$ratio = 0.30 to 3.00 |
warp scale 0.45 |
Scales the video to 45% of its original size. |
warp scale fill |
fill |
warp scale fill |
Scales the video for the current rotation so no black space is visible. Some video may be cropped. |
warp scale fit |
fit |
warp scale fit |
Scales the video for the current rotation so the entire image remains visible. Black space may remain around the image. |
warp scale shrink |
shrink |
warp scale shrink |
Decreases the scale ratio by 0.10. |
warp scale stretch |
stretch |
warp scale stretch |
Increases the scale ratio by 0.10. |
Run a Rotation Demo
| Command | Value | Example | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
warp demo loop |
loop |
warp demo loop |
Continuously rotates the video in 0.1-degree increments until stopped. |
warp demo stop |
stop |
warp demo stop |
Stops the rotation demo. |
warp demo |
No value | warp demo |
Completes one full rotation and then stops. |
warp demo $Q |
$Q = number of full rotations |
warp demo 4 |
Completes four full rotations and then stops. |
Artistic Video Walls
A Warp Engine Encoder can be used with Just Add Power video wall features to create an artistic video wall using displays mounted at different angles.
