Overview
KVM describes the ability for a USB device connected to a MaxColor Receiver to communicate to a USB device connected to a MaxColor Transmitter.
MaxColor KVM links automatically when the connection is moved to a new Transmitter; no activation is needed.
For a broad overview of KVM, please see KVM Overview.

KVM supports Bulk and Isochronous type USB devices:
- USB 2.0
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Touchscreen
- Gaming Controller or Joystick
- Flash drive
- PTZ camera control
- Webcam video
- Microphones
Supported Firmware
KVM Support begins on firmware:
- MAX v3.7.3
Command
Send this command to the MaxColor Receiver over telnet to re-initialize USB without switching sources. Use only if the KVM sink reboots and USB does not link automatically.
usb connect
Once the command is sent, the Receiver will link USB to the Transmitter it is currently watching.
To link to a different Transmitter, switch the Receiver to watch the Transmitter and resend the command.
Troubleshooting
KVM is fairly plug-and-play, but if the KVM connection is not working, check and confirm these things:
- USB connection on both Transmitter and Receiver ends are properly connected. Unplug and replug to confirm proper seating.
- Connect the USB device directly to the PC, bypassing the Just Add Power Transmitter and Receiver. This will confirm that the KVM device is functioning and is compatible with the PC it is connected to.
- Bypass any USB hubs or other devices that are between the Transmitter or Receiver and the KVM device.
