Overview

Uploading a switch configuration file might be done for any of these reasons:

  • Running AMP and loading the Discovery Configuration file
  • Copying the configuration from a defective switch into the replacement switch

These instructions will fit any of these situations.

Minimum Switch Firmware

Cisco CBS350 switches must be on minimum firmware version 3.1.1.7 to be compatible with AMP systems.

Walkthrough

  1. Login to the switch webUI by going to the current IP address
    • Default IP: 192.168.1.254 /24
    • Reset the switch (if needed) by holding the RESET button
  2. Login
    • Default username: cisco
    • Default password: cisco
    • If the switch has an AMP Discovery Config loaded, the username/password is: admin/cisco1234!
  3. If the switch is at default, you will be asked to enter a new temporary password. Cisco's password complexity rules are strict; it will not allow the password to be cisco1234!
    • We like: Fhqwgads1!
    • If prompted to create a new user, please use: temp
    • Remember, the new username and password will be erased and replaced with the uploaded configuration once this process is complete
  4. Check the firmware version on the switch. The minimum firmware version to be compatible with Just Add Power is 3.1.1.7.
    • If the switch is NOT on 3.1.1.7 or later, update firmware by going to Administration --> File Management --> Firmware Operations and updating firmware.
    • This firmware is necessary because previous version of Cisco have known issues with Just Add Power network requirements
  5. Once firmware is on 3.1.1.7 or later, go to Administration --> File Management --> File Operations on the left menu.

  6. In the File Operations section, set:
    • Operation Type to Update File
    • Destination File Type to Startup Configuration
    • Copy Method to HTTP/HTTPS
    • File Name to browse to the switch configuration file.

  7. Click Apply.
  8. Reboot the switch once the operation is complete.
  9. Done! The switch is at the settings from the configuration file: IP address, username/password, port settings.
