Overview
AMP is designed to interact with various types of networks, supported switches, Just Add Power devices, and firmware versions with different PCs, operating systems, and connections. Essentially, there's lots of variables.
When AMP is failing to move forward because of an unexpected result, a Debug Log will give us the information needed to work around the uncertainty so that it no longer happens.
When an Installer gets stuck in AMP at a point where they cannot move forward, the first step is to contact our Technical Support team. If the Technical Support team is unable to work around the AMP issue, then a Debug Log is necessary.
Set Log Level
There are two Log Levels in AMP
- Normal - the default setting that captures basic operations
- Debug - a detailed setting that captures ALL operations but also slows down AMP functions
Download & Submit Debug Log
- Open AMP
- Go to the top-left hamburger menu and select Help -> Set Log Level -> Debug
- Run through AMP to the point where the error occurs or you are unable to move forward.
- Take a screenshot of the error message and save it to a familiar place, like your Desktop or Download folder
- Go to the top-left hamburger menu and select Help -> Submit Logs
- Use the file save dialog to save the file to a familiar place, like your Desktop or Download folder
- Send an email to [email protected] and include this information in the email:
- Attach the screenshot of the error message
- Attach the Debug Log from AMP
- Provide the switch make and model, Just Add Power Series (Omega/Ultra/MaxColor), and a description of the process you were trying to accomplish when the error occurred. Any bit of additional information you can provide will be helpful to resolve the issue. If you are performing this step with the assistance of Technical Support, they have already done this step and we just need the screenshot and log file.
- Thank you for submitting a log! Your efforts are a major part of getting the issue resolved permanently!
- We will review the submitted information and give you feedback about a possible workaround, or a timeline on when we expect to have the issue resolved.
