Overview
The Just Add Power Ultra Series is a 4K30 HDMI over IP distribution matrix. It can accept 4K60 video input, but will output video at a maximum of 4K30.
Every Ultra Series system requires 4 components:
- One 3G Ultra Decoder per display
- One 3G Ultra Encoder per source
- Managed gigabit Ethernet switch with enough ports for Encoders and Decoders
- IP-based control system
Each Encoder and Decoder requires a dedicated cat5e (or greater) network cable coming from the switch location.
See our full Product Catalog and use the resources below to choose the model of Ultra Encoders and Ultra Decoders, choose the right switch to fit the installation requirements, and find control system drivers to manage it all.
See here to use the MaxColor 4K60 system instead. MaxColor devices are NOT compatible with Ultra devices, but there are bridging options for adding MaxColor devices to an Ultra system already in-place.
Part 1: Choose Decoders & Encoders
We manufacture multiple models of Encoders and Decoders to support different hardware requirements at endpoints, and all models within the Ultra Series can be mixed-and-matched to work together.

Consider adding ST1 Stereo Encoder/Decoders as audio-only inputs and outputs that seamlessly combine with standard Encoders and Decoders.

Part 2: Consider Accessory Parts
If the installation needs the ability to view multiple videos on the same display, consider adding a Tiling Encoder.
If the installation needs to display a video wall with displays rotated diagonally, consider adding a Warp Engine Encoder.
If the installation needs to control displays or sources with IR, consider adding Flux Capacitor IR Dongles to convert the RS232 ports on devices into IR emitters.
If the installation needs to store individual units in the rack, consider adding a Rack Shelf.
Part 3: Choose a Network
Just Add Power supports two types of network designs, based on the networking requirements of the jobsite:
- Standardized configuration - VLAN Switching
- Alternate configuration - Multicast Switching
Please see here for Choosing A System that works best for your client's infrastructure needs.
Once you decide, download Advanced Matrix Programmer software to setup either type of system.
Part 4: Control System & Drivers
We support a range of IP-based control systems - developed by us or by industry partners - to give you as the Installer the ability to provide the perfect experience for your client.
An IP-based Control System will allow full control of all things Just Add Power.
