Check Detected Audio Format (2G Legacy Mode, Omega, Ultra, and MaxColor Series)
Overview
Check the audio format detected by an Encoder or Decoder when troubleshooting missing audio, an unexpected format, or an audio compatibility issue. Use the method that matches the device's operating mode.
- Omega Series, Ultra Series, and MaxColor Series: Use the justOS API request below.
- 2G Legacy Mode systems: Use the Telnet commands below, including for compatible Omega Series and Ultra Series devices operating in 2G Legacy Mode.
Before you begin, identify the device's IP address and confirm that your computer can access it over the network.
Omega, Ultra, and MaxColor Series
Use the following justOS API request to retrieve the current audio stream details. The same request works on both Encoders and Decoders.
GET /details/audio/stream
- Identify the IP address of the Encoder or Decoder you want to check.
- Open a web browser and enter the following URL, replacing
DEVICE_IPwith that device's IP address:
http://DEVICE_IP/cgi-bin/api/details/audio/stream
- Review the returned JSON for the detected audio stream details.
- Repeat the request using the other device's IP address if you need to check both ends of the audio path.
For example, a device with the example IP address 192.168.100.130 uses:
http://172.27.1.1/cgi-bin/api/details/audio/stream
You can also execute the request from an API client by selecting GET and entering the full URL. See justOS HTTP API Overview for API access and response information.
2G Legacy Mode Systems
Connect to the device through Telnet, then execute the command for its role. These commands retrieve the currently detected audio information.
Encoders
cat /sys/devices/platform/1500_i2s/input_audio_info
Decoders
cat /sys/devices/platform/1500_i2s/output_audio_info
For established systems using A-Series firmware, these commands were introduced in A6.5.5.
Use the Results
Record the device model, IP address, and returned audio information. Compare the detected format with the source's audio settings and the formats supported by the connected audio equipment.
If you check both an Encoder and a Decoder, confirm that the Decoder is selected to the intended audio source before comparing the results.
