Overview
This article explains how to migrate an established Omega Series or Ultra Series system from a JADConfig Luxul switch stack to an AMP Standardized multi-switch configuration.
The procedure separates the existing stacked switches, applies an individual AMP discovery configuration to each switch, reconnects the switches using trunk links, and completes the system configuration in AMP. Existing supported Luxul switches may be retained, replaced, or combined with other AMP-supported Luxul multi-switch models when the system design permits.
End of Support Notice: JADConfig systems will reach End of Support on January 1, 2027. Beginning on that date, a system must be migrated from JADConfig to AMP before the Just Add Power Support Team can provide further troubleshooting or system service.

Scope: This procedure applies to existing JADConfig systems that use an AMS-4424P or XMS-7048P Luxul switch stack with Omega Series or Ultra Series devices. It does not apply to 2G Series systems, single-switch systems, Cisco stacks, or systems configured using another topology.
The examples show a three-switch system that retains two AMS-4424P switches and adds one SW-610-24P-R.

Requirements
Confirm all of the following before beginning:
- The system was configured using JADConfig and currently uses two or more stacked Luxul AMS-4424P or XMS-7048P switches.
- The system contains Omega Series or Ultra Series devices running compatible
Bx.x.xfirmware. - Every switch that will remain in the completed system appears on the Supported Switches for AMP Standardized Systems list and supports multiple switches.
- All switches in the completed multi-switch system are from Luxul. Different AMP-supported Luxul models may be combined.
- Each switch has the required 10Gb ports and compatible SFP+ cables or modules for the planned trunk links.
- The service PC can access the Local or Data Network connection at each switch location.
- The switch management credentials are available and have been verified.
- Sufficient downtime has been scheduled. Video distribution and control will be unavailable during portions of this procedure.
- The control system programmer is available to update the driver, switch address, device mapping, or other programming required by the AMP configuration.
Important: Do not reset a switch, disconnect trunk cables, change IP addresses, or move device connections until the system has been fully documented. These changes can interrupt service or remove information needed to complete the migration.

Document and Plan the Migration
Complete the Takeover Form
Follow the Just Add Power System Takeover Guide and complete the Takeover Form before making changes. Submit the completed form to the Just Add Power Support Team so the current system and proposed migration can be reviewed.
Document at least the following:
- Every switch model, MAC address, stack ID, management IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and login credential.
- Every Encoder and Decoder, including its assigned number, connected equipment, and current switch port.
- The existing Data Network connection and each inter-switch connection.
- The installed device firmware and operating mode.
- The control system platform, driver, switch address, and current source-to-display mapping.
In JADConfig, run Read Switch Config and save the generated Report File. Use the Report File to match each switch ID to its MAC address and confirm the configured Encoder and Decoder counts. Compare the report with the physical installation because cabling or hardware may have changed since the report was created.
Complete the Conversion Form or Calculator
Use one of the following resources to plan the AMP switch-port assignments:
The PDF provides a printable worksheet for recording the existing system and planning the conversion. Submit the completed PDF to the Just Add Power Support Team to receive the new device port mapping.
The Excel calculator uses the entered system information to generate the new AMP device port mapping automatically.
Label Before Repatching: Label every network run and photograph the existing switch connections before moving cables. AMP Standardized uses a different switch-port order than JADConfig. Missing or incorrect labels can make the new device mapping and control system programming difficult to complete.
Migration Procedure
Part 1: Generate the AMP Discovery Configurations

Open AMP and select Build & Expand.

Select Build New.

Enter a project name that identifies the jobsite, and then select Go!

Select Luxul as the switch manufacturer.

Select the model assigned to switch ID 1.

-
Select the + button to add each additional switch.

Assign the correct model to each additional switch. Use the JADConfig Report File and the recorded switch MAC addresses to preserve the intended switch order.

Assign a unique management IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway to each switch.
Example:
- Switch 1:
192.168.0.100,255.255.255.0,192.168.0.1 - Switch 2:
192.168.0.101,255.255.255.0,192.168.0.1 - Switch 3:
192.168.0.102,255.255.255.0,192.168.0.1
Use addresses that are valid for the jobsite network and are not assigned to other equipment.

- Switch 1:

Select Continue.

Enter the number of Encoders and Decoders assigned to each switch. Confirm the counts against both the JADConfig Report File and the physical installation.

Select Go!, and then select Download Discovery Configs.

Save all generated
.txtdiscovery configuration files in an accessible folder. Confirm that there is one file for each switch. -
Stop at the upload confirmation screen. Do not select Discovery Configs are Uploaded yet.

Part 2: Separate and Configure the Existing Stack Members
IP Address Conflict: After the stack links are removed, each former stack member may respond using the stack’s shared management IP address until its AMP discovery configuration is applied. Connect only one unconfigured stack member to the Local or Data Network at a time.

Confirm that all switch and device connections have been documented and labeled.

Disconnect the SFP+ stack cables from all existing switches.

Connect the service PC or Local/Data Network connection to the first isolated switch, and then sign in to the switch web interface using the former stack management IP address.

Go to Configuration > Stack and make the following changes:
- Clear Stacking Enabled.
- Set Switch ID to 1.
- Set Priority to 1.
- Mark any additional listed switches for deletion.
- Select Save.

Go to Administration > Configuration > Upload.

Select the discovery configuration that AMP generated for this physical switch:
dc_[Switch ID]_[Switch Model]_[Switch IP].txtFor the first switch, the filename begins with
dc_1_. Confirm the switch ID, model, and management IP encoded in the filename before uploading it. -
Select startup-config as the destination. If it is not listed, select Create New File and enter
startup-config. -
Select Upload Configuration.

Reboot the switch. After it restarts, it should use the unique management IP address assigned in AMP.

Disconnect the service PC or Local/Data Network connection from the configured switch and connect it to port 1 of the next isolated stack member.

Repeat steps 3 through 9 for the next switch. Select the discovery configuration that matches its AMP switch ID, model, and IP address.

Repeat the process until every retained stack member has received its corresponding AMP discovery configuration and has rebooted.
Part 3: Configure Replacement or Additional Luxul Switches
Complete this section for each replacement or additional Luxul switch included in the AMP project. Skip this section when every switch from the original stack will be retained.

Keep the new switch isolated from the other J+P switches and connect the Local or Data Network uplink to the switch port specified for initial configuration.

Sign in to the switch web interface.

Open the configuration upload page and select the discovery configuration that matches this switch:

Select startup-config as the destination. If it is not listed, select Create New File and enter
startup-config. -
Select Upload Configuration.

Reboot the switch and confirm that its web interface is available at the unique management IP address assigned in AMP.

Repeat these steps for each additional switch.
Part 4: Connect the Trunks and Continue in AMP

Connect the switches using the 10Gb trunk ports assigned by the AMP discovery configurations and the planned SFP+ topology.
- Connect switch 1 to switch 2.
- Connect switch 2 to switch 3.
- Continue the planned trunk connections for any additional switches.
- Add a redundant link only when it is included in the approved design and supported by the generated switch configurations.

Move the Local or Data Network uplink to the AMP-assigned Data Network port on switch 1.

Return to AMP and select Discovery Configs are Uploaded.

Follow the prompts in AMP to complete the system configuration.
Part 5: Repatch Devices and Update Control

Use the completed Conversion Form or Calculator and the AMP project instructions to move every labeled Encoder and Decoder cable to its new switch port.

Confirm each physical connection against the planned AMP device mapping before continuing.

Complete device discovery and configuration in AMP.

Review and update the control system driver and programming for the AMP configuration. Current integration resources are available from Just Add Power Control.
Verify the Migration
Before returning the system to service:
- Confirm that AMP can communicate with every configured switch.
- Confirm that every switch responds at its assigned management IP address.
- Confirm that every planned trunk link is active at the expected speed.
- Confirm that AMP discovers the expected number of Encoders and Decoders on each switch.
- Test switching from every source to at least one display and verify representative displays throughout the system.
- Test the control system and any required endpoint-control functions.
- Save the completed AMP project, AMP Report File, final switch-port map, IP information, and updated control system documentation.
Keep the Migration Record: Store the completed Takeover Form, Conversion Form or Calculator, AMP project, Report File, photographs, and control system notes together. These records establish the new supported system configuration and will simplify future service.
